About Declan Wood

Declan joined the Trams consultancy team in 2013 and was instrumental in the successful bid for BBC Sport Production Storage project from tender stage right through to live deployment.

Since this time Declan has worked alongside the rest of the Trams team consulting upon and helping to deliver a number of highly successful SAN deployments. His ability to identify exactly what the customer needs and how to architect an entire end-to-end storage workflow solution is second to none in the industry. This includes the core hardware, the interconnects and the entire software application stack.

Declan has worked in the Broadcast and IT industries for over twenty years including time at the BBC, BBC Technology, Siemens and Media Manor. During this time Declan has worked in most areas of television and radio production on both the engineering and production side of the house.

His vast experience of the industry means he knows everyone, literally – we aren’t joking. Jonathan and Warren have attended many meetings with Declan and there is always someone in the room he already knows!

Having started as a Broadcast Engineer in the BBC in the late 80’s, Declan started work in a traditional broadcast environment before moving into production and then moving across into IT support, management and strategy roles.

Declan then moved back into Broadcast, taking up roles as Chief Solution Architect for Production within the BBC Account and head of a Broadcast and Media focused Research and Development lab building prototypes and demonstrators designed to solve the issues facing the industries move to tapeless production.

Declan now works with Broadcast, production and media companies worldwide, helping to solve the problems associated with introducing convergent media technology and new broadcast and production workflows as well as providing training within production and engineering subject matters.
