Declan joined the Trams consultancy team in 2013 and was instrumental in the successful bid for BBC Sport Production Storage project
from tender stage right through to live deployment.
Since this time Declan has worked alongside the rest of the Trams team consulting upon and helping to deliver a number of highly
successful SAN deployments. His ability to identify exactly what the customer needs and how to architect an entire end-to-end
storage workflow solution is second to none in the industry. This includes the core hardware, the interconnects and the entire
software application stack.
Declan has worked in the Broadcast and IT industries for over twenty years including time at the BBC, BBC Technology, Siemens and
Media Manor. During this time Declan has worked in most areas of television and radio production on both the engineering and
production side of the house.
His vast experience of the industry means he knows everyone, literally – we aren’t joking. Jonathan and Warren have attended many
meetings with Declan and there is always someone in the room he already knows!
Having started as a Broadcast Engineer in the BBC in the late 80’s, Declan started work in a traditional broadcast environment
before moving into production and then moving across into IT support, management and strategy roles.
Declan then moved back into Broadcast, taking up roles as Chief Solution Architect for Production within the BBC Account and head
of a Broadcast and Media focused Research and Development lab building prototypes and demonstrators designed to solve the issues
facing the industries move to tapeless production.
Declan now works with Broadcast, production and media companies worldwide, helping to solve the problems associated with introducing
convergent media technology and new broadcast and production workflows as well as providing training within production and
engineering subject matters.
Declan is a qualified Broadcast Engineer and holds the Managers certificate in Service Management and Delivery along with the ISEB
Certificate in Project and Programme Management. He is a regular attendee at Broadcast and IT conferences, building and demonstrating
integrated solutions and prototypes as well as completing speaking engagements and key-notes.
